"So....you actually confessed to him?"
Wow. Must be some guy. Wait...WHAT? Bully??! Aki's face came into mind and Daichi shuddered. Hell no that was IMPOSSIBLE. He didn't even think he was gay to begin with, let alone....Aki. Gross. GrossgrossGROSS.
"So when was this?"
It was getting more and more interesting. Daichi also noticed that Akiya's coffee was rapidly finishing and he barely touched his own. With a slight smile, he pushed his own iced caramel macchiato over to Akiya.

Akiya smiled brightly at Daichi when he gave him his coffee. He was sad that there was no whip cream, but coffee was coffee. "I did. He never replied though, and instead increased his bullying and teasing," he shrugged and once the coffee was done, he opened the cap and fished the whip cream that was left on the bottom with his straw.
He blushed again remembering what he had been made to do once, "he made me wear shorts and a tight shirt, along with bunny ears and tail... This was, like on our last year of middle school, I think..." So embarrassing! Why did he tell Daichi this?!

Wow. That sounded like some kind of humiliation. For boys that age, pride didn't come easy and Daichi could only imagine the amount of potential damage such things could cause.
"That isn't very nice."
The young man said quietly after he finished the last bit of his biscotti.
"Maybe he did that because he was afraid of you?"
Some people do that. In fact, a lot of kids do that.
"It's called the gyakuten syndrome. Where people are unable to process how they should be treating someone they like, and instead treat them in the exact opposite way. It's quite common amongst young teens."
Daichi sounded very grown up and matured all of a sudden. In fact thinking back on the rest of his actions, the young man pretty much acted very much older than his age, despite that quiet sense of playfulness.

Akiya shook his head, "Nah, he didn't like me, he," Akiya paused and coughed for a moment, "was dating someone else and both of them were the happiest couple in the school, I believe they are still together too," he shrugged, he had left out the part that he sort of had liked what his first love had done to him, but he didn't want to scare Daichi away, or have him think the worst of him.
Akiya started sipping the coffee that Daichi had given him then, and looked up at him while doing so. Well, he was speaking a lot, so he was going to need all of the coffee that will have his mouth running.

"...Oh. Oh dear. Okay."
That was unfortunate to say the least. Daichi studied Akiya's features for a moment before he sighed again.
"I guess you can't choose who to like, ne?"
As for the youth, he has never experienced a crush before, let alone a first love. The young man was beginning to worry if there was something wrong with him. All the girls were sweet and endearing but somehow he wasn't particularly attracted to them? None of them made his heart skip, neither did he feel the urge and anxiety to see them more and on a regular basis. He didn't even bother venturing out with the guys either. They were all just happy being platonic friends.
Maybe he felt distanced from everyone due to the differences in mindset. Maybe he was just colder and far more detatched that he'd like to admit. Maybe he just wasn't capable of falling in love.
Daichi refused to allow his thoughts to reflect on his tanned features however, offering Akiya a sympathetic smile in replacement of everything that was going on in his mind.
"Well in a way I guess that suits you too, Akiya. Without love to worry you, you can concentrate on your music."

Akiya nodded a little, "but without love, I can't properly compose a melody that expresses love," he smiled and took another sip of his coffee. "Plus, it's a good thing to experience love and heartbreak a least once in your life time." He shrugged it off, having already overcome the pain of being rejected and used. He was just glad his first love didn't have sex with him, that would have hurt a lot.
"Although right now, yeah, I can focus on my studies so it's a good thing I don't have that sort of distraction, but it can get lonely," he smiled sweetly and quickly finished his drink.
"But why are we talking about such depressing things?" He chuckled and tried to wave everything they had spoken about away.

"...It started with my stupid question about your guitar."
Daichi said finally with a wry sort of smile, his head dipping a little and both elbows propped on the table.
"I think only real friends talk about things that matter anyway. And things that matter are usually difficult to talk about since they make us emotional."
He was fine with such heavy topics. In fact all the better since he got to understand a bit more of Akiya aside from the bug-hating, coffee-loving classmate.
"You make sense. But then again it's not so easy to just experience love. I tried looking for love and it never happened. So I guess my songs about love are baseless and empty, without an actual feeling to back it up?"
Daichi wasn't being depressed, he was simply being factual and thoughtful, musing over Akiya's input about this subject and applying it to his own experience.
And hell he had a lot of songs about love.

Akiya blinked a couple of times, "Well, there are a couple of different versions of the feeling," he shrugged, "there's the love for your parents, there's the love for your favorite food, the love for your favorite class, the love for you pets, love for you family in general, there's the lust that is usually confused as love, maybe what I experienced before wasn't love at all but lust, love is difficult to define," he shrugged.
"Should we get going? You wanted me to play a song for you on my guitar," he smiled as he started to get up.

"Makes sense."
The youth decided and stood up as well, making sure that handkerchief was well tucked into his pockets. He didn't want to bore Akiya with even more of his own theories.
"Ah! Yes please! Something you composed recently, maybe?"
He looked excited already at that prospect, and headed for the practice rooms.

Akiya chuckled. "Daichi, I need my other guitar, I can't play what I recently composed with one guitar," he smiled and took Daichi's hand and made his way to the dormitory. He wanted to make the mood better again, since it felt sort of gloomy, or it could be Akiya's feelings that were gloomy, oh well, his mood will change once he started playing with his guitar.

"Eh?"
Akiya was suddenly holding onto his hand! Walking along the corridor! Doesn't that look...WRONG? They aren't girls after all! Thinking too much made Daichi's head hurt, and he swallowed heavily with a blush, glad that he was walking behind Akiya so he didn't have to show the other his facial expressions of embarrassment and surprise.
And nervousness.
"You have two guitars? Why do guitarists need so many anyway?"
This was a question he thought about for a long time.

Akiya smiled at Daichi's question, he was sure that many people who didn't play the guitar in a band asked the same thing. "Well, I should probably tell you that the guitar that is currently in my room is an acoustic guitar, and we usually need more than one because some guitars are set at different pitches, so to speak.
You know the knobs on the head of the guitar? We use those to tune the guitar, and some music scores requires the guitar to have a different tune, now tunning a guitar takes a lot of practice and time, and if you're performing in a concert, you usually don't have the leisure time to tune the guitar to the right pitch. That's why another guitar is required." He explained without looking back at Daichi. Of course, there were other people who just wanted a different guitar for every concert, but for Akiya he just needed a different guitar because his music demanded that of him.

"Ohhh! Different tuning! Yes yes, I've heard of that."
So interesting!
"I'm picking up keyboarding now. It's a little difficult but Kre-san's been giving me music theory. He said guitar's not too different from the keyboard. Is that true?"
They reached an empty practice room.
"How about this room?"
He slid the door open and flicked on the switch, sliding the 'IN USE' sign over the door placard.

Akiya smiled, "Actually they're not that different. I used to play the piano when I was a kid, and Daichi, we need to go to my room first, or you would rather wait here all alone while I got fetch it?" Akiya asked with a chuckle. He wouldn't mind actually, that way he could just leave his guitar here with Daichi and bring his acoustic guitar back with him.

"I'll wait here."
Daichi said after helping Akiya with that heavy electric instrument, setting it down by the carpeted floor and against the wall.
"I'll help to setup? At least this much I know!"
He'll grab some cold water from the water dispenser at the other end of the corridor as well.
