There he was right up in the middle of an empty stage, the youth proud and confident with his chin lifted high, watching his audience of empty chairs. It was late at night and the main facilities on lockdown but the concert halls...the concert halls always remained open and his midnight stroll brought him where he was right now.
Daichi closed his eyes. In his mind then, he saw everything. He saw people cheering and lights flashing, he saw the curtain staff cue his time, he saw his manager standing by the VIP corner and watching the flow of the concert moving, the soul music starting, his life streaming through his own veins.
Everything was pulsing and then...and then he began to dance.
The music was in him, energising his every move and his soul and with it, his heart started to sing.

Akiya found himself walking towards the concert hall. Sure, it was late and he probably should be going to bed early, but he felt like he needed to find a place that wasn't his room to practice with his guitar. He had an audition to go to tomorrow, and he didn't know how well he would be able to perform.
When he stepped into the hall though, he was surprised to find that it was already taken by someone else. He was about to sigh in disappointment when he noticed who it was that was dancing in the middle of the stage.
With his guitar in hand, he slowly made his way to the front, and quietly sat in the front row seat. Quiet was Akiya's specialty.

At first Daichi didn't notice he had a real audience, far too immersed in his own practice that he nearly missed it...just barely. Then the glint coming off Akiya's guitar caught his attention.
"...!! Hey, Kazuhiro-kun!"
Daichi's voice was a little breathless from dancing, but he continued ploughing through each and every move, smooth as ever and so well-coordinated that it almost looked like a seamless 3D animation, what with the slowing down and the speeding-ups.
Those, along with his popping and locking were the key to his dancing. Even alone, it was quite a spectacle to watch. And taking another deep breath, Daichi began to sing.
The squeaking of his Onitsuka Tiger sneakers made up the beat of the music, along with each precise movement his deft hands and nimble feet, creating ribbon after ribbon of pure rhythm that elevated the soothing notes of his silky voice, well and powerfully mastered, so much that its sounds were carried off even to the farther ends of the concert hall.
That was the essence of soul music and Daichi captured it well.

Akiya smiled and waved at him, even if Daichi didn't notice. The way he danced captured all of Akiya's attention and he felt absorbed in it. Daichi was really good at what he did and he just silently watched and listened as he sang and danced at the same time. Hell, Akiya sucked at dancing and he wasn't much of a vocal person, so singing was out of the question. He was just glad that he could at least see someone practice both things that to Akiya would be difficult to master, if at all impossible.
Akiya wondered if his friend did this every night, or when he was in one of those moods that often drove Akiya to go out for a walk in the rain. He was just glad to see him in good spirits, though.

The song came to a conclusive end, made grand with a slow down of his current spin and once the beat was over and Daichi caught his breath, the young man flopped down to his butt on the smoothly waxed parquet stage floors.
He was flushing from the exertion and perhaps just a little sweaty, panting heavily and seated there just like that, grinning himself silly. That routine wasn't easy but he managed without backup dancers.
That was a good personal achievement.
"Did it suck?"

Akiya shook his head in reply to the question and smiled brightly at Daichi. He had been entranced, and even though the type of music Daichi danced and sang to wasn't something Akiya often paid attention to, he had liked it a lot. Maybe it had been because it was Daichi, but he knew that he would have liked it even if he didn't know him.
"It was really good," Akiya said while clapping lightly. He admired how Daichi had continued to dance even though he had been interrupted by Akiya's presence.

Daichi laughed at his friend's enthusiasm. It was too bad he couldn't bow at the moment. The young man was pretty much floored.
Literally.
He fell back from his seated position to lie completely on the parquet, staring up at the raised curtains and lights mounted on the ceiling, still panting heavily.
"Thank.....thank you....."
That was all he could gasp out at the moment. Well, the stage was big enough for Akiya to join him, too. There was no need to remain seated at the audience area.

Akiya stood up and walked to join his friend on the stage. He sat next to him and silently offered him a handkerchief to wipe off the sweat. He smiled down at him and looked at his guitar. He felt motivated to play his guitar with as much passion as Daichi had danced and sang.
"I really liked watching you," he admitted almost quietly.

"Unnn!!"
That was a thank-you grunt. Daichi accepted that piece of cloth and flopped it over his face. And he remained right there where he was, pretending to be dead. His heaving chest was giving him away though.
"Thank you."
Daichi said finally albeit a little muffled with that hanky over his face. Akiya's belongings smelled nice. He wiped his face down then, looking up at his friend and then curiously at the guitar.
"Is that yours?"
Silly question. Only Aki would bring around things that did not belong to him.
"It looks so cool."

Akiya smiled and nodded. "Yeah... I have an audition tomorrow, so I thought I should practice," he looked at his guitar and gently touched some of the cords. He loved his guitar, it always brought him calm and cheered him up when he most needed it.
He looked down at his friend again, "you really tired yourself out, didn't you," he chuckled and played with one of Daichi's curls. It was fascinating how they would just bounce back into place. "Want me to bring you something to drink?"

Daichi laughed when he felt fingers through his damp locks.
"I'm sweaty! It's gross!"
But he sat up anyway to be able to speak with his friend better.
"It's really beautiful. I bet it costs a fortune. Did you name it?"
Just out of curiosity.
"Oh a drink sounds so good now."
Why not they go together instead?

Akiya chuckled not at all bothered by sweaty hair. "I've seen and touched worse," he chuckled and looked back at his guitar, "I didn't, and I'm not sure how much it cost, it was a present," he said as he stood up and whipped his pants from the invisible dust.
"I'll go get you a drink, if you want," he said with a smile. He didn't want to make his friend walk when he was so tired.

"All of a sudden I'm afraid to ask."
Daichi laughed at Akiya's first remark about touching worser things. The guitar though was fascinating and he found himself drawn to its well-polished, well-used maple body.
"May I?"
Touch it, that is, the youth's tanned hand nearing it and pausing just in case Akiya wasn't agreeable to that.
"I didn't touch any bugs today."
Daichi promised with a cheeky smile, stopping Akiya in mid-standing by holding onto a handful of the other's pants leg.
"Help me up!"
He'd rather go together.

Akiya chuckled and nodded. "Sure, as long as you promise you didn't touch any bugs today," he smiled obviously going along with the way Daichi teased him about his fear of bugs.
He grabbed Daichi's hand and helped him up, "By the way, Daichi, you can call me Akiya," he said with a small blush on his face.

"Oof!"
Daichi groaned as he got up to his feet with renewed enthusiasm, feeling his energy slowly returning after he came face to face with Akiya's handsome features. He too mimicked the other's actions by dusting off the back of his own pants, releasing his hold on the other's hand to do so.
"Akiya then!"
He said brightly in that sensitive voice, looking up again with a smile and then Daichi took several steps backwards, lips pursed as he made a dash for the edge of the stage.
JUMP!
Doing a quick trick with a twist of his body as he sailed through the air, wavy curls flying and the youth landed nicely.
"Play the guitar for me later, will you?"
He asked with hands lifted above his head, wanting to relieve Akiya from the burden of carrying the guitar as the other got off the high-stage.
