Maya's forehead was pressed against the large window of the corridor, his golden tinted eyes looking on at the pouring rain outside. He hadn't brought an umbrella. And he wasn't happy at all. For once, his face wasn't bearing it's usual smile that brought a dimple to his face, but was instead turned upside down into a light frown. Aiji has a girlfriend. He just texted him. Maya sighed heavily, the lollipop now only a thin paper stick in his mouth.
It seemed like the weather affected his mood as well, only making him seem more gloomy than he already was. So he had been right, he wouldn't be able to have an intimate relationship with his senpai. Maybe he should have plucked up the courage to ask for one, but he was always scared of rejection. He hated rejection, so much that he rejected rejection. It was one thing he couldn't face in life. Right now, he just wanted the rain to stop, so he could at least feel just a tiny bit better when the sun comes out.

Shinpei wandered throughout the halls holding his wet basketball. He got caught in the rain as he was playing and ran inside for shelter. He hoped that he wouldn't get in trouble for making such a wet mess everywhere he went. His white shirt was now transparent and his hair was soaked.
As he walked he saw a figure come into view pressed up against the window. As he passed the taller person he noticed the sad frown on his face. He stopped walking and turned around to look at the taller man again. He had to at least see if he was all right.
"Are you ok?"

Maya continued staring blankly out the window, then pulling out his red cellphone to check the time. Still early. Nothing to do. He sighed again, finally replacing the finished lollipop with a new one, lost in thought before he realized someone was beside him and asking him if he was alright.
"Uh?" He looked next to him, blinking when he found nothing, then looked down. "Oh..." There he was. He... had never seen this guy before. "Yeah, I'm... fine." He tried to cover up with his usual smile, though it was a bit hard, only the corners of his lips twitching before falling again into a slight grimace. He cleared his throat, his eyes wandering along the other's body, noting that he had been out in the rain. "Uhm... you should dry yourself before you catch a cold..."

Shinpei ran his fingers through his wet hair. "Oh, i'm used to playing out in the rain. It helps me wake up more..." Shinpei saw that he still had a sad look on his face. He wanted to cheer him up but he didn't know how. He didn't even know who this guy was. "Ah, m-my name is Shinpei..." He shoved he free hand into his pocket and looked down at the ground. He really wasn't used to talking to people.

Maya nodded slowly, staring a little at the other's wet figure. He hated getting wet himself when he was in his clothes, it felt sticky and his hair would block his view. "Oh, I'm Maya. First year." He offered a hand to the other, smiling a little brighter this time. That was that, this was this. Now he can make a new friend, so why bother himself about senpai at the moment? "I haven't seen you around before huh? Did you get here later?"

Shinpei's eyes widened a bit at the sight of Maya's outstretched hand. This guy wanted to be...his friend? Shinpei smiled. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to come to this school. He took his hand out of his pocket and shook Maya's hand. "This is my first year too..." Now he finally knew someone else that went to this school. Shinpei quickly withdrew his hand which he realized was still wet. "Sorry..."
"Oh, yeah. I came a little late..." Shinpei fiddled around with the basketball tucked under his arm. He was surprised that he was actually having a conversation with someone instead of just walking away. "Umm, what are you doing so early in the morning? Just out of curiosity..."

Maya wondered how the other wasn't cold at all being wet all this time, and he sincerely hoped that he wasn't keeping the other just to let him catch a cold later. "You should really dry yourself... I'll go with you, we can chat more." He decided to keep the other thing away from his mind for a while, and finding a new friend was a good chance to lighten himself up.
"Well... I had nothing to do, and I usually just stroll around randomly when I'm bored." Truthfully, this time Maya had wanted to wallow in slight misery mixed with boredom but that plan was quickly put away. "Why were you playing basketball outside so early then? Just out of curiosity." He grinned rather cheekily down at the other, teasing him.

Shinpei smiled a bit as Maya worried about him catching a cold. He was suddenly caught off-guard when Maya proposed that he would go with him. "Ah, y-you don't have to go with me if you don't want...B-but i'm not saying that you shouldn't come...but if you have other things to do..." Shinpei stopped speaking trying not to make things awkward with the other and bowed his head. "S-Sorry, I'm kind of bad at talking," he admitted.
"Basketball?" Shinpei took out the ball and held it in front of him with both his hands and stared at it. "I guess it just helps me calm down. It's kind of a habit to play every morning before school starts." Shinpei looked up at the grinning Maya and couldn't help but smile himself.

"That's alright, I'm thinking that I need some company at the moment... If you don't mind that is." Maya actually found the other's stuttering rather cute, knowing just a little of how it feels when you're trying to say something but not being able to. "Lead the way~. I've got nothing to do today. At all."
"Huh... if it's able to calm me down, I should try it out then, though I'm not really a person built for sports..." Sure, he was tall, but his height made him rather clumsy at times. It was hard for him to balance for example. And his feet often stumbled or slipped on practically nothing. Now that was a skill, tripping over nothing. One that he mastered. "All I have as a habit are these." He held up his pack of lollipops, then taking one out to unwrap and pop it into his mouth.

"Ah, alright!" Shinpei felt better now that he had gotten to know Maya. "Hmm,actually i'm quite hungry...I never had breakfast yet. You wanna get something to eat?"
"I could teach you one day...if you want. I'm not built for sports either," Shinpei frowned a bit recalling the memories of his earlier school years. "That's a lot of lollipops," Shinpei giggled. Shinpei looked out the window and sighed. "I wonder when it will stop raining,"
