On the seventh floor of the Academy lies a radio station control room, a small cosy ward that was paneled in clear glass and had a beautiful view of Tokyo Tower nearby. Kreva was in the midst of sorting out the large amount of scripts he had collected from a workshop that evening, that hosted a mock-up of radio interviews. Basically, what to say and what not to say while on air on the radio. So there he was, dressed completely in black and connected to a pair of Jabra headphones as he checked the recorded voices of his students as he ran through the questions on paper. It was a long and tedious affair, punctuated by awkward pauses and stumbling. It was already sometime past 9pm but the energetic man was still hard at work. Oh, but what he'll do just for a mug of coffee...

Aoi had heard that Kreva was still in the building from the night custodian who he usually hung out with at odd hours of the day. The custodian was a guy his age, and they usually had plenty to talk about, Aoi would give him a sampling of something the recorded and he’d tell honestly what he thought about it. That was a good thing to have, an open set of ears that were friendly, but didn’t mind telling it to you straight. At any rate, the custodian mentioned that he’d been up there a long time, and would probably be staying up there even longer.
Walking into the custodian’s lounge, Aoi grabbed a couple of cups of coffee and headed up to the seventh floor, balancing a cup of coffee against his arm all the way. When he got there the first thing that struck him was the view. Who knew that old Ageha had a view like this? He’d never been up to the radio bank. Mostly only teachers used it.
Striding across the room he set the coffee down in front of Kreva, and flopped down in a nearby sound booth chair, leaning back and stretching.
Why would Aoi come up here? He was up at all times of the day anyway. Plus, Kreva sensei was one of the cooler teachers. One of the ones that seemed to get that he worked at all odd hours of the day and didn’t mark off his attendance if he showed up a little bit late or haggard looking.
“Ain’t it a little late?...I mean, we have class tomorrow...”
Leaning over to see what Kreva was working on he noticed it was something to do with the school. So, he just minded his own business.
“It alright to smoke up here?” he asked, looking a little fidgety and clutching his coffee with a certain discomfort.
Usually he didn’t hang out with teachers, of course. He didn’t want the teacher to think he was trying to be buddy buddy and bribe him for good grades or something.

Coffee?
Did he just smell coffee?
Kreva looked up with an expression of delighted surprise when he saw Aoi...AND coffee step into the recording studio, his handsome features crinkling up into a wide smile.
"Heya kiddo! Oh goddamned SHIT, dat smells like a piece 'o heaven, man! Mine? Mine? Pretty pretty please sez it's mine!!"
He made grabby hands at the mug and looked very much pleased at everything, the life, the universe and all that jazz, and Kreva took a long drink.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhh<33333"
Damned! Best shit ever!
"Yeap! Go 'head, kiddo. Though it ain't good fer ya! Pickin' dat up from Reita-kun, didja? HAHA!"
Now the teacher had removed his headphones and swiveled around in his chair to look at Aoi. The youth was handsome. He liked what he saw.
"We have class everayday, kid, whutcha talkin' bout? Haha! C'mere, lookit dis shit."
Kreva shoved a series of scripts into Aoi's hands.
"Lookit it. All yer classmates' junk. MAN! HOW CAN ANYONE GO ON THE DAMNED RADIO WITH DAT MAN?!"

Aoi just smiled the whole time, seeming happy that the teacher was pleased. But, he was a very quiet young man and really didn’t know what to say to any of this anyway.
“Oh, what I meant is that won’t you be tired, since there’s class tomorrow...staying so late?”
Lighting a cigarette he laughed nervously.
“No....not at all from Reita...I’m older’n Rei...if anything he got it from me...,” he smirked and took a drag off of it, looking almost as satisfied with it as Kreva had been with his coffee, perhaps a little bit more even.
Then he was shoved into the booth and given a set of scripts....What the hell was this stuff anyway? He looked it over curiously, not even having noticed the teacher glance him over.
If he -had- noticed, he would have seriously been uncomfortable, so it was very lucky he hadn’t.
“What ish all thish shit anyway,” he said, muffled a little through the cigarette.

"Eh! Scripts fer radio presentation, yo! Man, if ya think the writin's bad, ya just gotta hear the bloody recordin'! HAHAHA!"
Kreva handed the headphones over to the youth, grinning broadly.
"Here! Try it. Whose do ya wanna listen ta? Imma got Aki-kun, Reita-kun, Jae-kun...."
Fiddling with the switchboard and files on his Macbook Pro and playing with the volume as well.

Aoi laughed, “This is that assignment I missed isn’t it? God, now I’m so glad...I’d sound really dumb...” It was a weakness of his. He didn’t do well at solo interviews of any kind, let alone MCing an intro for a radio station.
Picking up the scripts again, he grinned.
“How about Reita’s,” he said with a wicked little grin. He took a sip of coffee and another puff of his cigarette waiting for the teacher to switch on the recording while he put on the headphones.

"Thought so."
Kreva replied with that lopsided grin, clicking around to drag and drop Reita's file into the program and he waited for the thing to load.
Loaded.
"Aight, ready whenever you are. Hahahaha."
His hand hovered above the play button.
The questions in Reita's script were pretty normal.
1. What is it about music that interests you? 2. Why do you want to be a musician? 3. Who is your music inspiration?
Then the cute questions came in.
4. If you were an animal, what would you be and why? 5. Describe yourself in three words. 6. Would you date an older woman/younger man? 7. What do you find attractive on the opposite sex?

Aoi looked over the list. Man, these were terrible questions.
“You know...I’m glad I didn’t do this....I’m already really bad at this...”
Reita’s voice came on, answering the questions. It did sound a little bit strange in parts but he said them so casually, like it didn’t matter, like he was just having a conversation.
Some of the answers were goofy or cute, but overall it was really good.
“Lucky fuck...he doesn’t care at all, he just answers them so casually...”

Te...te...terrible questions?
Well...okay maybe they were rather lame to the younger generation but currently the Deen still thinks they're cool. And unfortunate as it is, such questions were still the bulk of many interviews everywhere, not just the radio but the magazines and on tv. It was inescapable.
"DAT'S da problem, see, kiddo. He ain't soundin' convincin' nuff. People might think he's just...well, not serious. Well, it ain't a gud thing if he's still green in da field. Might get into trouble 'n shizz."
Another unfortunate fact. Japanese tend to honor politeness and they expect it from the freshies. If they're not given the dues that they require, then it'll be a harder, steeper road to climb. Unfortunately sometimes such things have to be learnt firsthand, to be humbled by a real experience and not through a mock-up in school.
Kreva shook his head with another sigh.
"Well. Since yer here, why not let's give us a shot, eh? Ya be owin' me dis assignment neways."
He winked at Aoi and offered the youth a headset.
"Ready?"

Aoi saw the headset pushed towards him and froze. There was a reason why his band usually didn’t put him on the spot for the minor interviews that there fledgling band managed to acquire. Scratching the back of his neck, nervously, he took the headphones like they would lash out and bite him any minute.
“Kre sensei, I....,” he frowned.
Sometimes he didn’t so much forget assignments as he didn’t want anything to do with certain ones. Aoi was suddenly certain that this was the case here. He had probably intentionally forgotten all about it, thinking ‘there is no way in hell...’
He just sat there for the longest time, holding the headphones at a distance and looking at Kreva awkwardly. It was really embarrassing...but not as embarrassing as he would sound if given an interview.

Stare.
Blink.
Awkward silence.
"...Tsk! Eeeeeeh, it ain't DAT hard, yo. C'mon, kiddo, just you 'n me 'n da two of us...ain't much yeah?"
He patted that shoulder and gave it a warm, encouraging squeeze.
"C'mon. Give it a shot."

Aoi put on the headset, but he hunched all up, which was uncharacteristic of him to the other teacher, most likely. In class, he really didn’t seem to mind answering the occasional question, and seemed comfortable enough with the other students, but to answer such questions as these for the teacher by himself was nearly as bad as telling the whole world the answers to such questions.
He said nothing, just stayed there, fidgeting and wringing his hands, almost looking like he wanted to disappear. Aoi was going to need a good long smoke and a stiff drink to shake this one off for sure.
In response to Kreva’s suggestions he said nothing, showing just how nervous he was.

Aoi's reactions were endearing. Very. It made Kreva grin wryly and he reached out to catch those fidgeting hands, clasping them together over Aoi's lap and gripping them warm and securely.
"Close yer eyes, kid. Close 'em! Yeap. Kay, now breathe. Slowly. One, two, one, and two....one, and two and three....aight. Now think 'boutcha favourite dessert. Think 'bout it...focus on it, think 'bout how it makes ya smile...mmkay. Breathe."
His voice was soft and smooth, lulling Aoi with its richness.
"Take yer time, aight kid?"

Aoi almost jumped out of his chair as the teacher held his hands in his -lap- of all places. It kind of freaked him out. And then to tell him to close his eyes after something like that. Aoi tensed quite obviously right after Kreva did that.
But, then he realized what he wanted and he just closed his eyes and breathed.
Favorite dessert...easy....momiji manjuu...his childhood treat that he was more or less addicted to. Cept then his stomach growled loudly and a slight pout came to that pierced lip.

That soft growl had Kreva chuckle again.
"Hahaha...dat's gud."
He knows then that Aoi was really thinking about food.
"Kay, focus on dat hunger, 'n den the faster we get dis over 'n done with, the sooner you can feed yerself, aight?"
Then he released his hold on those hands, turning back to his Macbook Pro and fiddling with some knobs.
"Ready whenever you are, Aoi-kun!"
